Sustainability status of agroforestry systems in Timor Island, Indonesia

Agroforestry systems can be considered as sustainability concept. They are able to provide ecological, economical and sociological benefit. In order help policy makers stakeholder decide what action should taken make agroforestry sustainable, the identification of status is needed. This study aimed evaluate in Timor Island, one islands Nusa Tenggara Timur Province, eastern Indonesia. The data was collected through combination field observation interviews with 38 respondents purposively selected three dominant systems, namely: mixed-garden, mamar, traditional silvopasture. Multidimensional Scaling approach used analyse based on five dimensions (ecology, economy, social, institutional technology) well 26 attributes. attribute valuation ordinal scale sustainable criteria each dimension. were ranked from 0 (the lowest) 3 highest). assessment classified into: not (0-25%), less (25-50%), moderate (50-75%) good (75-100%). result revealed that all sustainable. found that, only 15 out attributes categorized sensitive Such information important for farmer or other related improving appropriate strategies management.
